LETTER FROM HAPPY ENGLISH SCHOOL Dec. 6th 2023

Hello, how have you been doing? It is sometimes warm, but sometimes unexpectedly freezing cold these days. What is happening to the weather? We have to adapt ourselves to the climate change so that we can survive the extreme weather.

With the year end nearing, it is almost time that we looked back on this year. There has been good news such as the Hanshin Tigers’ winning the Japan Series, Otani’s winning the second MVP in the major leagues and Fujii Sota’s clenching eight shogi titles. On the other hand, we have seen, however, terrible incidents like spreading infectious diseases, never-ending Ukrainian war, and what is worse, the breakout of Israeli war with Hamas.

Violent disasters have occurred such as wildfires in the Americas, in Australia, and in Europe. In fact, Maui’s fire was so huge that we were glued to images sent from the devasted areas on the island. Massive earthquakes have also ravaged many parts of the world. The videos of collapsed buildings and crying people who lost their loved ones from Turkey, Myanman, Morocco are heart-wrenching and so are the ones of people whose houses and lives were destroyed by hurricanes, cyclones and typhoons.

All in all, I regret to say that we can more easily list bad news than good news this year.

As for Happy English School, I believe our students are doing well and improving their English. Everybody benefits from coming to study with us. Everybody acquires English so much that they can do well at school and make a success at work with their good English skills. This time too, I can report good news of students passing Step Tests.

１年の最後の月を迎えることになりました。学級閉鎖の話をよく聞きますが、元気で過ごしていますか。気候変動で、師走になっても比較的暖かかったり急に寒気が来たり、不安定な天気です。　この１年は、感染症拡大、災害、終わりの見えないウクライナの戦争、そして更に追い打ちをかけるようにイスラエルとハマスの戦争の勃発などの悪いニュースばかりを聞いてきました。その中で、阪神タイガースが38年ぶりに日本一、大谷が二度目のメジャーリーグMVP、藤井総太の前人未到の8冠と良いニュースが飛び込み、それらのニュースはshots in the arm 大いにカンフル剤にはなったものの、世界の状況はあまり変わりなく、依然暗雲が垂れ込めています。

しかし、HAPPY ENGLISH SCHOOLの生徒はそれにもめげす、英語の上達が進み、学校でも職場でも、英語のスキルで成果を上げています。それぞれが、そして私たち自身も英語をツールとして、日本語でも英語でも世界を知り、世界の平和に貢献できるよう日々精進していくことを目指します。英検に関してのみですが、今回もまた良いニュースをお届けします。さらなる英語力アップに日々励みましょう。
