LETTER FROM HAPPY ENGLISH SCHOOL June. 20th, 2023
Hello, how are you? How are you surviving the summer heat? Please take care not to get heatstroke.
I had appendicitis and was hospitalized at the Osaka Prefectural Hospital on July 3rd and had an operation to get my appendix out. I was discharged on July 6th.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience during my hospitalization. I had to cancel some lessons from July 3rd to 6th. Thanks to Julia, I did not have to cancel all of the lessons while I was in hospital. Actually, all of the students who took the STEP interview tests on July 9th successfully passed them with her help. I will give refunds for the lessons I cancelled.
I have realized that students need to expand their daily use expressions in real terms so that they get to have a good command of English. This time I vomited and had loose bowels in addition to a severe pain in my right abdomen. They are indeed the symptoms of appendicitis. I need these words to talk about my condition. If you want to improve your English, you needed to know to cover every genre of words such as medical terms, words related to daily activities. school or work matters, current topics, science, history, movies, TV programs, music, sports, family, and so on. Please translate whatever words and expressions you use in Japanese into English and try to remember them. You also need to remember the words and phrases you come across in reading and listening. There are many things you need to know to express yourself in English and to learn English through your life.
Textbooks do not cover everything you need when it comes to using English in practice For example, “poop” and “pee” are important words and even words like “constipation” and “diarrhea” are crucial to know to talk about health conditions. These words are unlikely to be seen in textbooks. Therefore, we need to keep that mind and commit ourselves to developing our English skills.
