LETTER FROM HAPPY ENGLISH SCHOOL　　　Feb. 12th, 2022

Hello, how are you？　Omicron is spreading and some students have called in sick. They say they have been infected or they have become close contact persons. As for private lessons, we can offer lessons online, so when you cannot come to school but are still fit for practicing English, I would like you to take LINE or Zoom lessons. However, unfortunately, group lessons do not apply to this case. Yet, I would like to give makeup lessons to students studying in groups to catch up. Our goal is every student’s steady progress in English proficiency.

The third round of Step written tests are over and the results came out on February 7th. Those who passed the grade 3, Pre-2 and 2 need to prepare for the interview tests. Those who took the grade Pre-1 and 1 written tests and also other grade tests outside the school should notify us of their results. They also need to prepare for the interview tests after they confirm they passed the written exams. Even if students get unfavorable results this time, they should bear in mind the saying ‘Blessing in disguise’. Bad results mean there is room for improvement. Students need to understand and memorize the grammar, the phrases and words they did not understand on the tests and also further practice reading and listening to gain speed and accuracy.

Even amid the Omicron pandemic, TOEIC tests, Step tests, university and high school entrance exams are taking place. We should be really careful not to get the virus and to keep fit to do our best in every test.

I need to break sad news. To our regret, Cindy is going back to Australia and we will miss her a lot. In fact, she expects to leave Happy English School at the end of March. Cindy is an enthusiastic, caring and sincere teacher who teaches kids to adults. She has tried hard to help students improve their English by devising and innovating ways of teaching to accommodate their needs. I always appreciate her devotion to teaching. Her suggestions are always adequate and help students to get motivated to learn English. She is a great asset of Happy English School.

I need to work out how I should fill Cindy’s absence. It’s hard to make up for the loss. Nevertheless, we need to continue to work hard to motivate and improve student’s English as much as possible and as effectively as possible.

1月はLETTERが出せなくて残念でした。個人面談や英検ジュニア英検がありLETTER を出す余裕がなかったかな。とにかくオミクロンの勢いが衰えず、陽性や濃厚接触のための欠席の連絡がよく入ってくるようになりました。プライベートレッスンは後に振替も可能ですが、レッスンの時間にLINEやZOOMでオンラインレッスンもできます。グループレッスンの欠席者はオンラインレッスンは難しいので、後に必要に応じてmakeup lessonを取ってもらうように手配したいと思います。何しろ生徒の皆さんの英語の上達がスクールの目標なのですから。

私たちにとって悲しいお知らせがあります。Cindyがオーストラリアに帰るので、この3月でお別れしなくてはなりません。Cindyはとても熱心で、子供から大人までの生徒のために創意工夫を重ねてレッスンしてくれました。感謝感謝です。Cindyの後を埋めるのはなかなか難しいかもしれませんが、生徒の皆さんがさらにモティベーションを持って英語の上達ができるようにレッスンを提供していきたいと思っています。皆さんも英語のgood communicatorになるようにオリンピック選手並みの努力で頑張ってください。
