LETTER FROM HAPPY ENGLISH SCHOOL Feb. 19th, 2021

Hello, how are you?　The weather is really unstable these days. One day it is warm like spring, but the following day it is freezing cold with gusty winds. It feels like we go back and forth between winter and spring. Spring is around the corner, but the hope for warm weather is dashed easily in the lingering cold.

I also hope and I think everybody hopes that the COVID-19 is contained as soon as possible. We are grateful that there is no one we know that has been infected with the virus and we do not have to get PCR testing. We are glad that we can teach and our students can learn at our school. In-person lessons are more desirable, advantageous and effective than on-line lessons. I think that way because I am an analogue person in a way, but with the fact that eye contact and body language play an important role in learning English, we indeed can learn more in the face-to-face setting.

Stay safe and healthy and be a great communicator in English as well as Japanese.

Rome was not built in a day. Efforts you make will reward you, if not soon, then eventually for sure.

春のように暖かい日があれば、恐ろしく寒い嵐のような日があります。春がもう近いというのに身にこたえます。入試をこれから受ける人にとっては、春はまだおあずけでしょうか。人生の山を乗り越えることで、人間的な成長ができると思います。だめでもくさらず、必ず何がしかの芽が出ることを信じ、他の教科のある中でも、英語に取り組んでください。英語は必ず、役立ちます。

他の教科もそうですが、英語は記憶力が問われます。インパクトをもって単語や表現、文法を覚えるために、「声に出して読む」、「聞いたものを繰り返して言う」、「日本文を英文にする」、「自分で言ったり書いたりして使ってみる」、これらのようなことを繰り返すことでだんだん英語が自分の中に入っていきます。

復習は大事で、やりっぱなしが一番いけないことです。宿題をして○付けをしない人がいますが、必ずチェックして、その時に間違いを修正して覚える作業をしましょう。短期記憶を長期記憶にするには、単語や表現、文法を絶対必要なものと脳に認識させましょう。覚えきれていなければ、またさらに覚えられるように書く、言うようにしましょう。
